Competent Tower Rescuer Recertification

ANSI/ASSE A10.48 3.18 Competent Rescuer. This person shall have previously competed Competent Rescue training. This course is designed to continue the education of the Competent Rescuer and increase their knowledge of performing rescues.

ANSI Z359.2-2017 (5.1.3.2), Competent rescuer training shall be conducted at least every two years with annual drill.

NATE CRTS requires annual rescue training

Objectives:

The participants in this Course shall have already successfully completed the Competent Climber Training. The main objective of Competent Rescuer Training is to develop and maintain climbers who are capable of performing rescues. Competent rescuers should physically perform rescues.

Content:

  • Rescue procedures

  • Discussion of rescue equipment

  • Controlled ascent and descent

  • Rescue planning

  • Non-entry rescue and “pick-off”

  • Introduction of additional skills and rescue situations

  • Discussion of suspension trauma
